What are
self-ligating braces?
From a distance, self-ligating braces look much like traditional braces, but upon closer inspection there’s a noticeable difference. Traditional metal braces have brackets attached to your teeth and an archwire connecting between them. They also require elastics or clips to ‘bind’ the wire into place, holding it in position to move your teeth.
Self-ligating braces on the other hand, uses a slide mechanism that eliminates the need for elastics. What does this mean? In short, it means less force is applied to your teeth to move them into position, which means less pressure on your teeth and a more comfortable orthodontic treatment experience.
